Ausgrid Paddington
The Paddington Zone Substation is part of the Ausgrid power supply infrastructure feeding electricity to the communities of the Inner Eastern suburbs. As part of Ausgrid’s ongoing preventative maintenance and modernisation programs, Murphy’s were selected to carry out the replacement of the metal roofing of the 11kV switch room and the removal of the dated substation fire resistant doors. The building is owned by the City of Sydney Council and has been used for commercial and residential purposes over the years. Built in 1891 the Paddington Town Hall has always had enormous cultural, historical and architectural significance for the local community. Both the Town Hall and the Clock Tower however have been in need of significant repairs and restoration for many years.

The site is a former coal fired power station that has been closed since the early 1980’s. The project works were undertaken to make selected buildings weather proof by replacing roofs, windows and downpipes.
