To whom it may concern

Company reference: Murphy’s Group Services Pty Ltd

We have worked with Murphy’s Group Services for 10years, predominantly in the inner Sydney CBD. Headed by the Mark Murphy, and supported by Brian Knowles, James Smith, Matthew Allen & Gary Tregidga we have developed a long standing relationship.

Our firm recognizes Murphy’s Group Services’ commitment to thorough pre construction analysis, in depth feasibility and pricing, commitment to completion of jobs on time and on budget. From an architectural perspective the attention to detail and high quality workmanship is key to their success.

We have worked with Murphy’s in a variety of locations (Paddington, Surry Hills and Redfern) where the projects were situated in heritage overlay areas. The construction detailing required compliance with heritage controls and recommendations of the relevant Council or Heritage Architect. These jobs all involved restoration, alterations and additions.

The restoration work sourcing new and recycled materials which were in keeping with the style of the building. Detailing of key elements was carried out to reflect the workmanship characteristics of the time.

The new work involved marrying contemporary construction with traditional architecture. This could vary from steel metal work, lime washed painted finishes, crafted timber elements.

We have and continue to enjoy a great working relationship with Murphy’s Group Services and have no hesitation in providing a company reference.

Yours Sincerely,

Anna Vaughan

To Whom it may concern,

CONTRACT No. AG4683/12: Refurbishment of existing Substation No. 15, Johnston Street, Annandale

This letter serves to confirm that Murphy’s Group Services were contracted to carry out the refurbishment of Ausgrid’s Substation at No. 15 Johnston Street, Annandale. The Contract required Murphy’s to complete the works and achieve Practical Completion by 27 July 2013. They reached Practical Completion on 11 July 2013, over 2 weeks earlier.

The existing substation was NSW Heritage listed and this required extreme attention to details as the works included the complete demolition and reconstruction of the timber and slate roof and internal belfry. The existing structure had to be carefully surveyed to ensure that the reconstructed roof and details where “like for like”. Murphy’s achieved this admirably.

Murphy’s were also challenged by a very tight construction area with limited set-down spaces. In addition, the adjoining neighbors were actively concerned at the impact of the works on their privacy and amenity and again Murphy’s management of the process supported Ausgrid’s focus on enhancing our community relationships.

The overall result for Ausgrid was very pleasing with budget outcome achieved, minimal admistrative issues, a tightly controlled delivery time and above average quality workmanship.

Ausgrid would be more than pleased to have Murphy’s work with us again on another Project and strongly recommend them for Heritage type works and related projects where attention to detail and quality results are expected and required.

Please do not hesitate in contacting the undersigned if you would like any further information.

Yours Sincerely,

Ausgrid

Dear Brian

Letter of reference

Davis Langdon engaged Murphys on behalf of a client with a large area warehouse project, after an open tender process. Murphys demonstrated a high level of understanding of the client requirements in their tender that was carried through into their delivery. Their team was able to engage with the client on site and keep them informed of the daily activities, whilst also mainting an open channel of communication with us as the discussions was professional at all times, with one eye always on the big picture of overall project success. When advice on a suitable strategy for moving forward, and managed the work very competently from an OH&S perspective. The result is a quality roof refurbishment completed with as little fuss as possible.

Yours sincerely,

Nick Jago

RE PADDINGTON TOWN HALL – FACADE, ROOF & MECHANICAL PLANT REFURBISHMENT FOR CITY OF SYDNEY – TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

In appreciation of your company’s effort in producing a successful outcome for the above project for City of Sydney, as consulting heritage architects, we are pleased to provide the following reference for your future commercial pursuits.

The project had many challenging aspects which overall your team successfully managed, in particular:

  • Site access and materials handling
  • Work hour restrictions due to theatre operations
  • Staging the works to suit building tenant operations
  • OH&S and safe work method procedures
  • Noise and pollution control
  • Mechanical plant and platform installation
  • Facade refurbishment and painting

Particular credit has to be given to your leadership and your company’s friendly and cooperative can-do culture. Your site management team deserves special praise in particular Gary Tregidga and James Smith. Also their diligent assistant Mick. Credit also to your professional painters.

Despite the many issue encountered, Gary Tregidga applied himself 100% to the project and in a most positive cooperative manner, worked to resolve each hurdie with amazingly good humor. Gary and Mick’s hands-on dedication to the project has been instrumental to the projects success and much appreciated.

As far as the contract administration and financial aspect is concerned we cannot comment as they were undertaken by City of Sydney’s Project Manager.

Trusting another commercial opportunity comes our mutual way in the near future. Meanwhile we would not hesitate recommending your company for similar maintenance type projects.

Yours Faithfully,

To whom it may concern,

Murphy’s undertook project works for Brookfield Johnson Controls between January and July 2013, which involved upgrade of 13 ablutions within a large accommodation block, located at a Defence establishment in Sydney.

The project presented some challenges, including:

  • The building was occupied at the time
  • Asbestos was discovered (and removed) during the works
  • The condition of the building slabs and walls was poor & remediated by Murphy’s

Brian Knowles, project manager, efficiently addressed the difficulties encountered on site, and established a good rapport with the Defence personnel as well as Brookfield Johnson Controls. Murphy’s WHS and environmental systems were effective, and the project was delivered on time despite the additional works required.

Overall, Murphy’s performed well and I would not hesitate to invite them to tender again on other projects.
